energias sustentáveis em bissau To this end, the Galp Foundation and the Union of Portuguese Capital Cities (UCCLA), in a ceremony attended by the Ambassador of Guinea-Bissau in Portugal, today signed a Partnership Protocol that will lead to the implementation of this project of development of energy sources in the city of Bissau.

Starting in April this year, the project aims to improve the living conditions of the people of Bissau with access to alternative energy sources to coal, which has harmful effects on the environment and health, swapping it for cleaner energy: butane gas. It involves the supply of 25,400 kits, comprising small gas cooker stoves and connection accessories.

The action falls under the "Covenant of Mayors", part of the European Commission's energy policy and its extension to the cities of sub-Saharan Africa, to encourage good practices and access capacities to clean energy resources available to urban and peri-urban communities.
