Galp employees take part in an intervention at Laranjeiras elementary school

A group of 10 volunteers created paintings and games on the school’s yard, lending more diversity to children's playtime in the playground.

The Galp Energia Foundation and Galp Voluntária had planned to carry out this action on the Laranjeiras elementary school’s yard during the Christmas School Renovation Initiative in December 2016, but this was not possible due to unfavourable weather conditions.

Nevertheless, by occasion of World Tree Day, on March 21, it was decided to mark the date with the completion of the works and the planting of fruit trees at the school. To this end, a group of 10 volunteers created paintings and games on the school’s yard, lending greater diversity to children's playtime in the playground.

Orange and cherry trees were also planted with the involvement of the schoolchildren, who surprised the volunteers at a later date when they visited the Lisbon towers and offered decorative gift items that they had made with poems, among them:

An example of solidarity,
Galp has given us,
Much Joy for the youngsters.
We will never forget!

Hopscotch is tradition
Lots of movement it entails!
To Galp, we are grateful
It will be always in our thoughts!

Leap frog
What great fun!
Galp came to help us
To enrich our education!
