As it has for the last three years, at Christmas, the Galp Energia Foundation lent its energy to that of Galp Voluntária - Galp's corporate volunteering program - renewing a partnership whose objective it is to contribute towards the social development of the community, involving employees of the Galp Group in a large volunteering activity.
Under the motto "Energy creates Knowledge", the social deed of 2016 focussed on schools. Thus, the following schools were helped:
- EB1 Perafita Elementary School - Matosinhos;
- Padre António Macedo Secondary School - Vila Nova de Santo André; and,
- Laranjeiras Elementary School - Lisbon.
These interventions seek to contribute towards promoting social inclusion in access to education and the development of knowledge among communities, and reflexively provide an increase in the social awareness of volunteers of areas they help in.
To this end, three Schools with social and material needs were identified, in which there was a blatant lack of technological and computer equipment, furniture, repairs were needed on degraded infrastructures, among other situations, and where the Foundation proposed, with the help of volunteers, to create / renovate study areas, libraries and multimedia rooms.
