Galp Energia Foundation renovates Sines School with Sines Refinery Employees and Students

15 volunteers, employees from the Sines Refinery, and 25 students from the Padre António Macedo Secondary School, in Vila Nova de Santo André, worked together to create spaces suitable for study at this school.

The Santo André School Grouping, AESA, is located in Vila Nova de Santo André, Santiago do Cacém, an urban centre of the Alentejo Coast, with 1546 students distributed over different levels of education. The headquarters of the Grouping, where the intervention took place, is the Padre António Macedo Secondary School.

The School’s management had already identified several priority situations to be resolved, some resulting from the degradation of the building due to its age, and others, namely the creation of areas for students to develop school activities.

On December 14, fifteen volunteers, employees of the Sines Refinery, and twenty-five students of this School, worked together on this project which aimed to create an environment conducive to study, which is an essential tool for social inclusion.

Thus, to improve existing conditions and provide a better use of space, a specific area was created for reading, studying and other similar activities.
