Access to education

We believe in the transformative power of education and its role in building a more prosperous future. That is why we promote access to education and academic success, develop skills for the future, and foster knowledge in energy literacy.

We view learning, knowledge, and curiosity as tools that go beyond the traditional classroom setting. Within the strategic axis 'Access to education', we operate on three fronts:

  • Access to education and academic success: We promote the qualification of children, young people, and adults through scholarships and mentoring programmes.
  • Skills for the future: We prepare children, young people, and adults for an ever-changing job market, equipping them with practical and essential skills such as critical thinking, digital literacy, and STEAM knowledge.
  • Energy literacy knowledge: We raise awareness among different age groups about more conscious consumption and new forms of energy through classes, mentoring programmes, and educational content.

Esperança and Jacinto

Not all children's stories are meant to put us to sleep. Some exist to wake us up. 'Esperança and Jacinto' is one such story – an invitation for children and families to discover, in a light-hearted and entertaining way, the power of small gestures in building a more sustainable world.

Born out of a partnership between Porto Editora and the Galp Foundation, this book represents the evolution of the Galp Foundation's educational programme, which has been promoting energy literacy in schools for over a decade.

TUMO Lisbon

We are social investors in TUMO Lisbon, a free education centre for young people aged 12 to 18, which promotes STEAM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

It is a programme that combines technology and creativity and includes flexible, individual, and group learning methods, with a strong experimental and practical component.

Through this partnership, we ensure that at least 65% of students come from public schools and 10% from TEIP (Priority Intervention Educational Territories) schools, including the Alcântara community, where we are based.

In October 2024, TUMO Lisbon students were surprised with a live performance by ProfJam, artist and ambassador for the Galp Foundation's educational projects.
