The Energy of Brazil

Through Petrogal Brasil, a joint venture with Sinopec, Galp has been present in Brazil for over 20 years. It is one of the largest producers of oil and natural gas in the country, also operating in the commercialisation of energy products and investing in Research, Development, and Innovation (R&D&I) projects. In the field of Social Impact, Petrogal Brasil supports initiatives that promote the development of communities, responding to their socioeconomic contexts and bringing us closer to their people.

Our work in one strategic axis: Access to education

M

We harness the power of music

Petrogal Brasil is a social investor and sponsor of the Orquestra Maré do Amanhã (OMA) and the Chiquinha Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra, projects that promote education and inclusion through music.

OMA teaches classical music to children and young people from one of the most violent favela complexes in Rio de Janeiro. Through instruments, musical notes, and scores, students are steered away from drug trafficking and develop key skills for their professional futures.

The Chiquinha Gonzaga Orchestra aims to ensure female representation in the world of music. Composed exclusively of girls and women, it offers musical training with free opportunities for economically vulnerable communities.

I

We create an innovation ecosystem

Innovation is at the heart of our presence in Brazil. Petrogal Brasil is developing an innovation ecosystem based on collaboration, the provision of financial resources, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships with universities, companies, and their researchers and specialists.

With an open innovation approach, it accelerates the development of solutions and technologies with the potential to be integrated into the energy value chain.

In parallel, it awards scholarships and runs mentoring programmes.

E

We democratise access to education

Petrogal Brasil is a partner of the Livros nas Praças project, which uses a bus transformed into a mobile library to visit public squares in communities without access to public libraries, offering free book loans. The aim is to democratise access to culture, education, and reading.

The company has its own dedicated shelf, featuring books on energy, the energy transition, and sustainability.
