Volunteering programme

There is much we could say about the energy that drives us. But we would rather thank our volunteers and highlight the projects we believe in and to which we dedicate our people's time, talent and energy.

Time, talent and energy in the service of the community

Galp Voluntária, Galp's corporate volunteering programme, was established in 2011 to encourage Galp Group employees to play an active role in their communities, contributing to their social, human and environmental development.

The programme provides 48 hours per year, during working hours, for participation in volunteering activities. These initiatives are supported by the Galp Foundation's Volunteering team, which liaises with social organisations to ensure that employees' time, talent and energy address real needs.

2025 in figures

2025 was the most significant year in the history of Galp Voluntária, both in terms of the number of initiatives and the level of participation. Throughout the year, more than 2,000 employees — over a quarter of the company's total workforce — took part in 457 volunteering activities across various geographies. These initiatives reached more than 6,000 beneficiaries and also had an impact on the volunteers themselves, who reported improvements in their professional and social skills.

'Apps for Good' project, from CDI Portugal An educational tech programme empowering students (from around age 10 to 18) and teachers to design smartphone or tablet apps that solve social problems. Know more

Banco Alimentar Fights food waste by collecting surplus food and distributing it to those in need across Portugal. Know more

Banco de Bens Doados Receives and redistributes donated goods and equipment to social institutions supporting low‑income individuals and families. Know more

Banco do Bebé Supports vulnerable mothers and babies by supplying essential supplies and providing guidance and assistance. Know more

Cruz Vermelha de Matosinhos The local branch of the Portuguese Red Cross in Matosinhos works to improve the living conditions of vulnerable people, adhering to the fundamental principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, volunteerism, unity, and universality. Know more

EPIS Promotes social inclusion through education by providing scholarships to prevent school dropout and encourage academic success among disadvantaged youth. Know more

Junior Achievement Portugal Inspires and prepares young people for the world of work through entrepreneurial education programmes. Utilises a "learn by doing" methodology to develop skills in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, STEM and work readiness across all school levels. Know more

Just a Change Mobilises volunteers to renovate homes for families living in substandard conditions, improving their quality of life through practical housing repairs and upgrades. Know more

Make-A-Wish Grants wishes to children with serious illnesses, bringing hope, strength and joy to their lives and those of their families. Know more

Quercus Portugal's largest environmental NGO with national reach, working on nature conservation, biodiversity, pollution control, climate action and sustainable consumption. Founded in 1985, it operates through regional chapters and runs wildlife rescue centres and environmental education programmes. Know more

'Rota da Energia' project, from ADENE An educational campaign promoting energy efficiency and sustainable habits, raising awareness of best practices for conscious energy consumption. Know more
