Educational Programme: "Esperança e Jacinto", a story to wake us up

Not all children's stories are meant to help us fall asleep. Some are created to awaken us. "Esperança e Jacinto" is one of those stories: an invitation for children and families to discover, in a light-hearted and engaging way, the power of small actions in building a more sustainable world.

Esperança is a young girl full of dreams. Jacinto is a distracted giant who leaves the lights on and forgets to close the door on cold days. But can he change? With Esperança's help, Jacinto learns that caring for the planet starts at home, through simple choices that can make a real difference.

Written by Rita Ferreira and illustrated by Rita Almeida, this book introduces young readers to energy literacy and encourages more environmentally responsible habits.

In addition, Esperança e Jacinto has a charitable mission: for every copy sold, €1 is donated to the Institute for Child Support, an organisation that has worked since 1983 to uphold children's rights and promote their wellbeing and protection.
