The Energy of Matosinhos

With the land of the former refinery taking a new step towards a future of decarbonisation and innovation, Galp and its Foundation – powered by the energy of its people, and the most relevant local social and institutional partners – are implementing the projects that bring to life the community engagement plan: The Energy of Matosinhos.

We promote collaborative innovation

In partnership with Matosinhos City Council, Galp – and the collaborative innovation consultancy Beta-i – we run Colmeia, an innovation programme that drives scalable solutions to sustainability challenges. By connecting national and international start-ups and innovators with local opportunities, Colmeia promotes tangible impact in Matosinhos.

We support education and inclusion

In partnership with EPIS – Entrepreneurs for Social Inclusion, we reward academic achievement among students from the municipality of Matosinhos with university scholarships, helping to combat school dropout due to financial hardship.

We engage our volunteers

In 2024, we organised nearly a dozen volunteering initiatives in Matosinhos, involving the energy of 128 employees. In the coming years, we will renew this commitment.
